When OpenAI unleashed ChatGPT it changed everything. Since that, every industry has seen the impact of AI in one way or another, and gaming is no exception. Intrigued by the capabilities of AI, we thought how can we use AI to make games better and more fun for everyone.
Immediately our minds started generating ideas about immersion, exploration, adventure, interactivity and so on. After some thought, we identified these three problems that often emerge in gaming and that can be addressed with AI.
Our team understands that people have different gaming tastes and preferences, no longer being satisfied by playing one-dimensional and linear titles.
Players no longer want static, one-size-fits-all games, they want adventures that evolve with their choices, feel unique, and adapt to their playstyle.
However, meeting this demand has traditionally been fraught with various challenges:
Developing a game has historically required a multidisciplinary team of programmers, designers, writers, and marketers.
Budgets for salaries, software, hardware, and marketing can be prohibitively expensive.
Without a guarantee of success, creating a game has often been a gamble that few could afford to take.
These barriers have limited game development to well-funded studios and highly skilled teams, leaving smaller creators with ideas but no means to execute them.
Creating a game token can be an exciting endeavor, but it comes with its own set of challenges. Here are some of the more difficult ones that players may face:
Writing and deploying a smart contract for the token requires programming skills, typically in languages such as Solidity for Ethereum or Rust for other blockchains.
Development costs: Hiring blockchain developers or buying pre-built solutions can be expensive.
Transaction fees: Deploying a token and interacting with blockchain networks often comes with high transaction fees, especially on popular chains like Ethereum.
Blockchain Selection: Choosing the right blockchain (e.g., Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, Solana) can be overwhelming due to differences in fees, scalability, and developer support.
Token Utility: Defining a clear purpose for the token within the gaming ecosystem is critical. Without strong use cases, the token may lack value or interest.
Token Supply and Distribution: Balancing token supply, reward systems, and distribution between players and investors is a complex task.
Engagement: Creating a vibrant and active community around the token is essential to its success.
Trust Issues: Gaining the trust of players and investors in a decentralized and often volatile environment can be challenging.
Game compatibility: Seamlessly integrating the token into the game and ensuring a smooth user experience can require additional development resources.
There are games that tell powerful stories using great writing where choices and freedom of exploration isn't the goal. However, most games labelled 'open world' often struggle with true immersion unable to deliver the feeling like you truly are free to do whatever you want, say whatever you think, and act/react as you will. AI has the power to help overcome technical limitations standing on the way of boundless freedom of adventure within your favorite universes. At AI Worlds, we are working to create systems capable of immediately adapting to player choice whether in dialog or when interacting with environment.
Remember the immersion-breaking feeling of attempting to interact with an NPC you clearly 'wern't meant to speak to'? Or exhausting pre-written dialog options with a character only to have them fall into an endless loop of repeating the last line of their dialog? When building game worlds this is exactly the sort of thing that breaks immersion and yanks you back to reality. As developers, using AI we can now focus on filling worlds with characters featuring actual personalities with belief systems, values, memories, and opinions, leading to unique, meaningful, and practically inexhaustible interactions.
In the current state of the gaming industry, communities and modders often get to do a lot of work to maintain their favorite games fresh, relevant, or sometimes even downright playable. All of this with no direct compensation or incentive, besides an occasional Patreon. While not directly addressed with AI, this issue within the industry is something we, at AI Worlds, take close to heart. We believe that whether it's developing captivating narratives, designing unique virtual worlds, or crafting engaging characters, creators deserve transparent means of earning financial rewards for their work.
The AI Agent of AI Worlds eliminates these obstacles, opening the doors for independent creators, small teams, and businesses to bring their visions to life. The AI Agent democratizes game development while tapping into the growing demand for personalized adventures.
The use of AI enables games to learn from player choices and adapt scenarios in real-time, ensuring each gaming session is unique. It also has the power to enable true freedom of choice, where players can not only select one of the provided response options in dialog, but also respond in any way they want creating their ultimate role-playing experience.
With AI, developers can create more realistic and responsive game worlds leading to a gaming experience that feels alive with NPCs and environments reacting intelligently to player decisions. Interactions with every NPC can be meaningful and convincing, whether it's a hotdog vendor in a bustling mega city or a random cowboy in an obscure tavern at the edge of the world.
Characters, quests, narratives, or even entire worlds and universes can now be created and powered with AI or LLMs. This births entirely new ways for creators to contribute and earn within gaming ecosystems. If done fairly, this has the potential to opens new win-win avenues for content monetization, benefiting both creators, gaming communities, and game developers.
Ultimately, the use of AI within the gaming industry ushers in a brand new era where adaptability, interactivity, and creative expression come together to bring gaming experiences we could only dream of before. These technological advancements not only address some of the existing issues, but also pave the way for a more inclusive and rewarding future of games.
By addressing long-standing challenges in the industry, AI Worlds makes game creation accessible, dynamic, and profitable, covering all the bases needed for a head start.
